1 Peter 5:7
Cast all your worries and anxieties on Him, for He is always watching and He cares about you.
I don’t know about you, but when I’m overly overtired, molehills become mountains and stubbing my toe can result in a complete meltdown. God never promised life would be easy. What we are promised is that, in the end, He will always make everything turn out to be the best result HE has in mind for your life.
We know that God is always with us. He promises He will never leave us…ever. But sometimes He feels closer to us - or we feel His presence - more than others. Sometimes it seems like as much as we cry out, we don’t hear or feel Him at all.
It’s at times like these, we need to be even more vigilant about casting our worries, our anxieties, life's complications onto Him. What can we do to feel His presence?
Here are a few suggestions:
Remember that feeling alone or questioning God doesn’t mean that you have lost your faith.
It’s ok to wonder, “Is anyone listening?” He’s got big shoulders. You can even yell at Him; He can take it. Cry, scream, scribble in your journal. He will be there to comfort you, if you can feel Him in that moment…or not.
Listen for His message to you, through a song on the radio, a passage you read in a magazine, a random meme sent by a friends.
Count your blessings. Look around. What 5 things are right in front of you that you can be grateful for RIGHT NOW?
Nature can carry God’s whispers. See the beauty of how it all blends together so peacefully - the sounds, the smells, the warmth - or chill - of the air. Maybe a butterfly will gently land on your finger as a reminder how much God loves you.
Let God Carry you. Earth school is hard. Trust that when you give Him your worries, He will not fail. The outcome will be the RIGHT result, no matter what your feelings may be telling you.
Remember that no matter what, as Peter says in today’s passage, He’s always watching…and He cares about you.
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Lord, sometimes it’s the little things that drag us down the most. It’s in the silence we are most likely to hear Your voice. The frogs and crickets chirping by the creek. The bees swarming around a butterfly bush. The utter chill of a majestic full moon shimmering across fresh snow. We thank you for the lessons of trust and faith. No matter how difficult they are, they teach us to grow closer to you. We are hardened by fire and then polished by your Grace. In our head and in our heart, we know You. Let us feel You. Help us to truly embrace the meaning of “Thy Will Be Done.” In Jesus Name. Amen.

I am learning to be aware of my thoughts and feelings. When I see that I am in a negative state of mind or emotion I realize that is not from the Holy Spirit. Satan is always waiting for opportunities to make subtle or not so subtle suggestions so that we will not be in the Spirit, and pull us out of our peace with Jesus. As soon as I see 'this is not from the Holy Spirit' I turn from it and call on the Holy Spirit to free me from those ideas that satan is trying to influence me with.
Sometimes we need this reassurance that God is always with us and especially in these days we are in. Thank you and merry CHRISTmas.
