For All The Special Women in Our Lives
A Day of Gratitude
Proverbs 31:10
Who can find a capable wife? Her value far exceeds the finest jewels.
While this verse is specifically attributed to a wife, I believe it can equally be applied to mothers. Rewritten as:
Who can find a capable MOTHER? Her value far exceeds the finest jewels.
Whether you are a wife, a wife and a mom, a single mom, a grandmother, an aunt, a sister, or a female friend who has impacted children's lives, your value exceeds the finest jewels.
As a tribute to all the women who are Celebrating the Day set aside in your honor -
Thank you for training your children in the way they should go so when they are old, they will not depart from their training (Proverbs 22:6)
Thank you for all the baskets of clothes you have folded, all the dishes you have washed, and all the bags of groceries you have put away.
Thank you for all the meals you prepared that were hungrily devoured or left uneaten on a picky eater’s plate.
Thank you for helping construct all those science projects you really didn’t understand either.
Thank you for every snotty nose you wiped, every skinned knee you bandaged, every sleepless night you sat at the bedside during fevers, or worse.
Thank you for wiping all the tears caused by the “mean girls” and for all the pep talks given to rebuild confidence after the disappointment of not making the cut on the team.
Thank you for every sporting event or music recital you patiently sat through, even endured.
Thank you for being patient through the many hundreds of hours of practice required to learn to play and then perfect a musical instrument.
Thank you for the thousands of prayers for health, protection, and direction for each child as they grew and navigated the landmines of Earth School.
Thank you for all of this…and more.
Thank you for all you have done, all you are doing, and all you will do.
Feel the love from those who are showering you with respect, fun, and love. You’ve earned every minute of it.
Today’s Prayer
Dear Father, thank you for all the women in our lives, whether they are our biological mothers or surrogates. We all have mother-like friends who have been there for us when we needed loving kindness.
Some of us may not have had a warm, nurturing relationship with the “mother” who raised us. Today, we hold them up with love and forgiveness.
Some of us may have had a warm, nurturing mother who has passed on. Today, we hold their memories in our hearts with love and happiness, even as we long for their presence. Hopefully, we will be with them one day again soon, walking the streets of Heaven.
Some of us may have the good fortune to still have our mother, our dear friend, with us. Today, we will love, honor, and thank them for the good and bad days we’ve shared over the years.
For all the women in our lives who have contributed to our personal growth, stood steadfastly by our side, and have both laughed and cried together with us through life, especially if they have enhanced our walk with You, we hold them in our hearts with love. Jesus, hold them close today and give them an extra hug. Amen.

Thank you Dr Tenpenny
This was a beautiful gift to awaken to today!
This was the first gift of the day. The warmth and love expressed are overwhelming. Many things make today very special, one is knowing in my heart, I believe that I did try so very hard to be a good Mother and now Grandmother. I reflect on a Mother's Day many years ago. It was at a family reunion, and my maternal Grandmother was brought to the reunion in a Motorhome, so she could attend and still be comfortable. That evening, all the Grandchildren went in to her and presented gifts they had made. Pictures, cards, flowers, and other things. Then all of her Children (ie our parents) surrounded the Motorhome and sang this song.
M "M is for the million things she gave me."
O "O means only that she’s growing old."
T "T is for the tears that were shed to save me."
H "H is for her heart of purest gold."
E "E is for her eyes, with lovelight shining."
R "R means right, and right she’ll always be."
I will never forget this moment. As a young girl, I was so very touched by the Love expressed that night. Yes, I have experienced the love of my children and miss that we are not together today. I pray for a time when we will all join together as a family. But reality is sometimes like a rock through a glass window. Things do break and shatter. But that will never stop me from reaching out to repair what I can. I was very, very blessed with a loving Mother that I miss so very much. I was allowed to care for her and be with her as she passed from this earthly home to her eternal home. That is something I will never forget. Stays with me each and every day, and today especially. So, thank you, Sherri, for a beautiful Mother's Day message.
