2 Chronicles 20:15-17 (ISV)
….In the midst of the assembly the Spirit of the Lord came upon Jahaziel who said…"Listen carefully…this is what the Lord says to you: ‘Stop being afraid and stop being discouraged because of this vast invasion force. This battle doesn’t belong to you, but to God. Tomorrow, you are to go down to attack them. They will be coming up [from the ascent of Ziz]. You will find them at the end of the valley [facing the Wilderness of Jeruel.] You won’t be fighting this battle. Position yourselves. Stand still, and see the Lord’s salvation on your behalf. Never fear and never be discouraged. Tomorrow, go out to face them, for the Lord is with you.”
Here's a little background associated with this verse: King Jehoshaphat, the fourth king of a divided Judah, was about to send his men against the wicked Moabites and Ammonites who had taken over the Promised Land. When speaking to the People, the Lord sent a message through Jahaziel - one of Jehoshaphat’s men. The next morning, in the midst of tremendous confusion, the wicked troops began to fight each other! When Jehoshaphat’s men arrived, everyone was dead and they gathered the plunder, returning to Jerusalem safe and wealthy.
How many times in the last 3 years - when you were facing lock downs, mask and shot mandates, family separations, countless frustrations, and now, as you are facing the growing number of jab-related deaths - how many times did you feel the battles were so overwhelming that no matter what you did, the fight was unwinnable?
If you’ve been reading this substack for a while or following Happy Hour with DrT, my Tuesday and Thursday night online Bible discussions, you know we frequently referred back to Ephesians 6:10-19 - the verses that remind us to put on the full armor of God every day as we prepare to engage in the battle.
But today’s verses offer a different perspective - let’s read it again, with a little paraphrasing:
"Do not be afraid or discouraged because of THEIR vast numbers and THEIR plans to come against us. The battle is not ours; it belongs to God. Go down against them. They will be coming at you from all directions. Listen up: You do not have to fight this battle. Solidly position yourself. Stand still. See how the power of the Lord will deal with them. Do not be afraid or discouraged. Face them head on, for the Lord Your God is with you.”
Perhaps after we put on the Full Armor of God, we need to give the upcoming battles - for our children, for our money, for our freedom - to God. Our role must be to:
Position Ourselves - shoulder to shoulder - with our Tribe, who may or may not be our blood relatives.
Stand Still.
Stand WITHOUT fear.
Face them.
Know God is on our side.
Always know who the Enemy is…
We need to stop shooting our “teammates” in the back. Stop the back-biting. Stop the back-stabbing. Stop the one-upmanship. Stop aspiring to be the “prom queen,” ie. demanding to be the center of attention. Kick the Luciferians out of the House.
God is waiting to be called onto our personal battlefields. We need to step aside, after all:
“Our struggle is not against human opponents, but against rulers, authorities, cosmic powers in the darkness around us, and evil spiritual forces in the heavenly realm. (Ephesians 6:12 - ISV)
We are fighting the Rulers of this Darkness for the survival of humanity…His creation. We may not have to PHYSICALLY fight this battle. But we must:
Have the right attitude (fearlessness))
Have the right courage (resolve to stay the course)
Exercise trust, and
Know.
Throughout these current battles, I have often felt like I needed to absorb the body blows, fall down, stand back up, and take a few more. Maybe you’ve felt that way too - the need to drudge on, even though you’ve been battered and bruised, and you’re weary to the bone.
But what if there was a different way to engage? What if we need to simply Stand Still. Be fearless. Be encouraged. Embrace the unmovable faith OF God. Embrace the peace of knowing He is right here. Right now.
Today's verses, bring to mind a few of my other favorite verses: (paraphrased)
Isaiah 46:10 — BE STILL AND KNOW that I AM God
Mark 10:27 — With God all things are possible
Philippians 4:6 — Be anxious for nothing; make your requests be known to God
Today’s Prayer:
Dear Lord, thank You for continually giving us new guidance, new insights, bigger and better perspectives through stories and passages in Your Word. We need to toss You the keys and let you take the helm. You know the best course for sailing through the challenging waters of Earth School. You gladly take on our burdens, our anxieties, our fears. In fact, You ASK us to come to You when we are weary and burdened, and You will give us rest.
Lord, we pray safety during our summer travels. We pray You will open the floodgates of Your blessings and fill our cups to overflowing as we sing Your praises for the “wins” in our battles. Thank you for the thousands of gentle reminders throughout Your Word about how much You love us. We are forever grateful for Your strength and Your mercy. We ask that Your will be done in the Precious name of Jesus. Amen.

I really needed this today. Thank you for sharing and reminding me of God’s parental love and protection of all of His children.
Thank you, Dr. T
"Stop being afraid and stop being discouraged because of this vast invasion force. This battle doesn't belong to you, but to God."
It's so encouraging to know, without any doubt, our Great Almighty loving GOD is forever with us. And we have nothing to fear. This battle has been won already. We are all victorious.
'In everything, we have won more than a victory because of Christ who loves us. I am sure that nothing can separate us from God's love—not life or death, not angels or spirits, not the present or the future, and not powers above or powers below. Nothing in all creation can separate us from God's love for us in Christ Jesus our Lord!" Romans 8: 37-39 CEV
GOD bless you all this day, I pray...
