Nice pastoral essay Dr Tenpenny! I was off reading a set of really painful feuding substack exchanges elsewhere -- I usually shy away from this but the topic/targets were important to me and it was more of the scared controlled oppo talk that has become common place -- so then I saw your beautiful headline and I realized with a laugh that you had set up a lovely little church of the substacks and we’re getting out the good news and the BIG NEWS that has eternal import. Lovely, lovely, LOVE -- all praise and glory to the Creator and Owner of the Universe and thank you Jesus of Nazareth, God made Man and Light from True Light Begotten not Made for your Blood which covers the Mercy Seat beside the Throne and speaks ceaselessly to the Father for all of us 💜 Hallelujah Dr Sherri!

GOD bless you, Sherri.

He Loves us!

"The picture my mind painted of God viewed him as though He was the grumpy owner of all the NFL football teams, the guy watching the entire game called Humanity from a Royal box seat, calling the plays." Sherri Tenpenny

"The LORD appeared to us in the past, saying I have loved you with an everlasting love. I have drawn you with unfailing kindness." Jeremiah 31:3 NIV.

He Loves us!

Sherri, this letter is an insightful window into the many tearful hearts of women and girls who view GOD as an unloving father unable to express His true feelings. Just a simple "I love you" was all they ever needed and need now. All those brokenhearted views of GOD the Father become shattered forever when we read GOD's words to all of us as spoken in the Bible. "I have loved you with an everlasting love."

His proven everlasting love is so great that it is incomprehensible, but He says it in a way we will all understand. He says, "I Love you," and he proves it to us every moment of every day. He hasn't stopped saying it. Let's all listen to Him now in this psalm.

Yes, He Loves us!

Psalm 136:1-26 NLT

"1 Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good!

His faithful love endures forever.

2 Give thanks to the God of gods.

His faithful love endures forever.

3 Give thanks to the Lord of lords.

His faithful love endures forever.

4 Give thanks to him who alone does mighty miracles.

His faithful love endures forever.

5 Give thanks to him who made the heavens so skillfully.

His faithful love endures forever.

6 Give thanks to him who placed the earth among the waters.

His faithful love endures forever.

7 Give thanks to him who made the heavenly lights

His faithful love endures forever.

8 the sun to rule the day,

His faithful love endures forever.

9 and the moon and stars to rule the night.

His faithful love endures forever.

10 Give thanks to him who killed the firstborn of Egypt.

His faithful love endures forever.

11 He brought Israel out of Egypt.

His faithful love endures forever.

12 He acted with a strong hand and powerful arm.

His faithful love endures forever.

13 Give thanks to him who parted the Red Sea.

His faithful love endures forever.

14 He led Israel safely through,

His faithful love endures forever.

15, but he hurled Pharaoh and his army into the Red Sea.

His faithful love endures forever.

16 Give thanks to him, who led his people through the wilderness.

His faithful love endures forever.

17 Give thanks to him who struck down mighty kings.

His faithful love endures forever.

18 He killed powerful kings

His faithful love endures forever.

19 Sihon king of the Amorites,

His faithful love endures forever.

20 and Og king of Bashan.

His faithful love endures forever.

21 God gave the land of these kings as an inheritance

His faithful love endures forever.

22 a special possession to his servant Israel.

His faithful love endures forever.

23 He remembered us in our weakness.

His faithful love endures forever.

24 He saved us from our enemies.

His faithful love endures forever.

25 He gives food to every living thing.

His faithful love endures forever.

26 Give thanks to the God of Heaven.

His faithful love endures forever." Psalm 136:1-26 NLT

Twenty-six times, He says, "His faithful love endures forever," 26 times, "I Love you," He Loves us, and He will never stop saying it.

Let us pray. . . Father, thank You for Your incomprehensible everlasting Love so great that it can't be wholly understood in this life, but we hear You saying, "I love you." The world can't hear or believe Your words, but we do because we are not of this world. Thank You, Father, Yes You Love Us, Yes You Do!

Yes, He Loves us!

As JESUS said. . .

"I have loved you even as the Father has loved me. Remain in my love." John 15:9 NLT

"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends." John:13 NLT

"So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples." John 13:34-35 NLT

GOD bless you all!

Good morning, Dr. Tenpenny! Much gratitude for this read. It’s amazing how Our Lord touches so many of us in different ways! One of my favorite verses is 1 John 4:19…I love that He love us even before we were born. The unconditional, overwhelming love He has for us amazes me everyday in every way. We just need to believe! Dr Tenpenny, you feed my weary soul! Every week your thoughts, and musings, and sharing of scripture are exactly what I needed for encouragement and sustenance. This battle is sometimes just too much!

Wouldn’t it be a wonderful, fun, project to compile these Walking With God devotionals and heart felt prayers into a book?!? ( hint, hint 😉 ).

May God continue to richly bless you!

I love your spiritual essays. My eyes struggle, though. Any chance of computer generated version? Thank you for all you do and God bless you.

Forgiving others for their sins against us is very important. One of the attributes of true love, GOD'S love, is its ability to forgive. If we don't forgive others our love is like a clanging symbol, and NOT authentic. That's why GOD says his mercy, grace and loving kindness is coupled with his forgiveness.

It's amazing how God carries us through life and we don't recognize it for many many years. As I look back on the many times I felt so alone I realized how many doors he opened or shut to direct my path. What you shared about your dad is sad for I had the same kind of parents, never heard I love you, good job from either. In time I got to feel cared about by some of the things they did for me. They weren't brought up hearing that they were loved, so didn't have it to pass on. As a great grandmother many times I reflect on no matter what my family does that is hurtful or disappointing, I love them and want the best for them or want to see them change an attitude and sometimes think this is how God watches over us. He continues to love us when we make bad choices and He creates circumstances to get us back on the right path if we are willing. The unconditional love.

I've read and watched dozens of NDE this past year. The greatest theme? (And they actually didn't completely crossover completely) Abounding, indescribable love. We can't comprehend it here on Earth.

Dr. T, may your post today encourage everyone re: the Father's love for them. Especially, those who did not have a close relationship with their fathers. Amen!

i too struggled with God being my Father. for my father on this earth was less than kind and loving. Physical abuse towards my mother and emotional and verbal abuse (with a random moment of leather belts used for punishment) towards me left me more than unwilling to accept our LORD as the loving kind and merciful Father He truly is. After 20 years of reading His word and doing several bible studies and using His word as my guide did I learn who He really is.

I am currently listening to The Psalms Project and the current song associated with Psalm 6 Is called "Heal Me". This song touches me so much simply because my True Father has healed me.

As I strive to take care of all my mother's medical, financial and mental issues and try to get her back to her home town and have her placed in a memory care facility only my Father has been with me in such a way that I will never NOT see Him as my Father.

I've talked to dozens of people in another state than where I live. I've learned patience, peace and righteousness in anger at the deplorable way she was treated by the hospital she was in. I've hit burn out this past weekend, but I felt His presence many times. Satan has been working hard to keep me from my FATHER, but that is just not happening. He has given me the opportunity to proclaim His goodness in my life to people I don't even know. This has turned into my ministry/mission of sorts.

Thank You my Sister in Christ for your steadfast devotion to sharing your new learnings on who our Father is. God is good...ALL THE TIME. ALL THE TIME...God is good. Love to all readers and may you see Him for who He really is - our Father.
