1 Samuel 17: 45-47, 49-51 - today’s focus

David said to the Philistine: “You come against me with a dagger, spear, and sword, but I come against you in the name of Yahweh of Hosts, the God of Israel’s armies—you have defied Him. Today, the Lord will hand you over to me. Today, I’ll strike you down, cut your head off, and give the corpses of the Philistine camp to the birds of the sky and the creatures of the earth. Then all the world will know that Israel has a God, and this whole assembly will know that it is not by sword or by spear that the Lord saves, for the battle is the Lord’s. He will hand you over to us.”

David put his hand in the bag, took out a stone, slung it, and hit the Philistine on his forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell on his face to the ground. David defeated the Philistine with a sling and a stone. Even though David had no sword, he struck down the Philistine and killed him. David ran and stood over him. He grabbed the Philistine’s sword, pulled it from its sheath, and used it to kill him. Then he cut off his head. When the Philistines saw that their hero was dead, they ran.

The picture at the top of this substack is a pile of stones, a picture I took at the Bible Museum in Washington DC where I attended a meeting in September, 2022. The Guide said the were river bed stones and scholars believe these are the size of the stone used by David to smote Goliath.

David had no fear of this Giant. He didn’t see Goliath as an insurmountable foe. He didn’t compare Goliath’s massive stature to his own; he viewed Goliath as a puny foe against the power and the might of His God.

We are fighting colossal battles against modern-day giants: the tech firms; the central bankers; the WEF; the Davos billionaires; the determined transhumanists; even our own local/state/national governments. They are using every available tool to wield their massive economic power against us, working non-stop to take control of every area of our lives.

Revolts erupted all over the world in the last year or so, from the Canadian truckers to the Belgian farmers and the dairy farmers in the Netherlands. Over the last several weeks, we have seen massive revolts against the Chinese government’s insane “Covid Zero” policies. People are risking their lives to fight for the freedom to work, to care for their families, and to just be left alone.

These battles brought to mind the story of David and Goliath. Goliath represents what we are fighting today. Big. Intimidating. Crushing. But David won, not by might, or by power, but because he went against Goliath in the name of God, the Yahweh of Hosts. Davis knew His God was bigger than any Giant he faced. Our God is bigger than any god before us.

Nearly every one of my Happy Hour podcasts, which are Tuesday and Thursday night at 6pEST, we refer to Ephesians 6 and putting on the full armor of God because we are fighting ‘powers and principalities,’ a spiritual war beyond the scope of what our physical minds can comprehend or our physical bodies can withstand.

To win, to even get God on the battlefield with us, we must follow the 10 step set of requirements given to us in 2 Chronicles 7:14 –

1. If (the BIG question - will we do it?)

2. My people, who are called by My name (His people - not the atheists or agnostics)

3. Will humble themselves

4. Pray

5. Seek My face

6. and turn from their evil ways,

7. THEN

8. I will hear them from heaven;

9. I will forgive their sins;

10. and (THEN) I will heal their land.”

We can pray for God to pull our country back from the precipice. But why should He? Have we done what He has asked? What He has said are the prerequisites for healing our land?

We will only win if we boldly face our enemies, with God on our side. We will only heal and restore our country - and our lives individually - if we follow His directives.

Today’s Prayer:

Dear Lord, as our God-given, constitutionally protected rights, seem to be vaporizing on a daily basis, we ask that You to give us courage to face our modern-day Goliaths. David approached his battle with confidence, knowing he was in the fight For YOU and With YOU. Not only did David kill the giant, he then lopped off Goliath’s head with Goliath’s own sword. Lord, we pray for fearless hearts, for clear minds, for the collective synergy to stand together against the takeover of our country, our world, by modern-day Giants.

Lord, we understand that only through You, with You and by You does humanity have a chance of surviving for future generations. Please wake up the sheep, Lord, for many of them ARE Your people. Show them that they are obeying the wrong ‘master.’

Show the weak pastors they are leading Your people into the hand of the Enemy. We pray for their souls Lord, that their eyes and ears may be quickly opened. Give them the spiritual capacity to connect the events. May their eyes and ears be opened. We are grateful to be together for You. With all that we want, we ask that Thy will be done...in Jesus’ name. Amen.
