Unfortunately, we, in many Churches aren’t taught much about the Holy Spirit for some reason. Maybe, a tactic of satan sinceJesus said it would be BETTER for Him to leave so He could send the Spirit. My prayer partners and I did our own study on the HS not to long ago to learn more. He is a Person, not a feeling and not an it. Which, we say 3 Persons in the Trinity, then we say it! I refer to Him, because that is how God the Father and Son have chosen to reveal themselves, although God is neither like we think (He is all, the Creator, the Great I am!). Also in John 15:26,16:13-14 the HS has male pronouns (pronouns are important heh?) There are many great videos on the Holy Spirit we watched … What is the Holy Spirit by Skip Heitzig, Derek Prince Ministries of the HS, Walking in the HS Charles Stanley, Dr Erwin Lutzer at moodymedia.org ( type in Holy Spirit!) and many more…He is continually teaching us thankfully! Blessings

I don't think that I will ever fully understand, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. But really, we don't need to. We only to accept that's how it is, and I do. It's that way for many other parts of scripture also. I don't always understand, but I accept and receive it. I am so grateful for the companionship and guidance of the Holy Spirit and I talk to Him often. I ask for his guidance, or encouragement or healing or anything else. Every morning when I read the Word, I specifically ask the Holy Spirit to open my mind and my heart to what am reading, and that His Word would not return void, but accomplish what he intended. I don't have any family at all. I'm older and by myself, with a serious chronic health issue, so I am very grateful for His presence with me and for me.

I think of the trinity like mind, body, and spirit who are all me. I use that to get around understanding the Holy Trinity. We are made in the image and likeness of God. I experience God as the Creator, the Father, His word made into flesh, Jesus who lived as man and died for our sins. His resurrection is our hope that we too will join Him. God came to us in the form of the Holy Spirit on that day in the upper room where the disciples became apostles. To me the trinity includes three forms of connection to a benevolent force. Maybe this universe splits into opposites as in light/dark,sun/moon, male/female. The nature of the source I won’t know until I get there. But for now it is pure love. I am happy for you, Dr. Tenpenny that you had this experience. I have no doubt that you will have more. It is a prayerful practice to get to the level of contemplation. My daily practice of prayer has 4 parts: praising God, repenting my sins, thanking God, and asking God for a specific thing. I implore Him as the trinity. I think of Him as the father (my earthly father seems like yours), then I feel Jesus with me, especially during the contrition, & then I stay quiet and let the Holy Spirit guide me. Love and protect me Father, forgive me Jesus, and give me wisdom, Holy Spirit.

I look to the Gospels to understand the Holy Spirit. Think of how scared the apostles were after Jesus was crucified. They must have been so disappointed and lost in what to do next. Then Jesus appeared to them resurrected and they were so joyful to have their leader and teacher back. But wait... Jesus said he was leaving them again! No... what were they going to do now? That's when Jesus said he would send them the Paraclete, the Holy Spirit. Why? Even the apostles had no clue what that meant. All they knew was Jesus was gone again and they were alone and lost.

But then the tongues of fire were suddenly on the apostles and these lost men instantly gained knowledge and strength of what to do and how to do it, no matter the cost. I see the Holy Spirit as the spiritual guidance needed to get through this life on the right path. I still at times don't know how to address the Holy Spirit, but at times of doubt I say "Holy Spirit show me the way of Jesus and God."

The video you posted is very good. There are deceiving spirits in the world. The Scriptures are our guide to who the Holy Spirit is and what He does, so that we can recognize the deceivers. The Holy Spirit is the One who illumines the Scriptures, and awakens our hunger for them. Those who are not spiritual cannot understand the Scriptures (the unbelievers, who do not have the Holy Spirit), yet through His ministry, we do understand them! Perhaps we take this for granted. Also, the Holy Spirit does not magnify Himself, but draws our attention to Jesus. This is not easy for us to understand, especially because we are so selfish.. I was visiting another church, as I was out of town today, and the pastor there spoke on the trinity. He said, "The finite can never fully comprehend the infinite. It is an unrealistic expectation. God revealed Himself as three in one because He wanted us to know that about Himself." Also, "The Trinity is the very highest form of relationship. Study how they speak of and to one another. Imitate them!" Thank you, Sherri, for loving God and wanting to know Him more deeply. This is a very good and holy desire.

Dr. Tenpenny, check out Robert Morris's book, The God I Never Knew. Fantastic book on the Holy Spirit and very readable. He was raised Baptist, but now calls himself a 'Bapticostal' after encountering the Holy Spirit in a very real, dynamic way.

Before I buy any book, I go to Amazon and read both the 5-star and 1-star reviews. These were interesting, especially the 1-star reviews...

I do the same. That's where the real recommendations are.

Thank you for this most beautiful post! I feel inspired and sense a richer relationship with God the Holy Spirit. For me, spirit is beyond masculine and feminine. I delete the need to understand. 😄 (That is part of a quote from the late Brugh Joy, M.D.) I really appreciate the reminder from the biblical quote you shared about asking….God and wants to help, but we need to ask and it’s okay to ask…..thank you again Dr. Tenpenny!!!!

I think understanding the Holy Spirit is critical for any mature Christian, and the Spirit is the least understood member of the trinity, IMO. The Spirit is comforter, counselor, and companion. Nice post. Loved it.

Dr. Sherri Tenpenny, it is a miracle that I saw your comment about CognitiveFX and am so happy that you went their. Dr. Fong is such a wonderful and brilliant woman as is her partner (name???).

Yes, give yourself some grace about following their exercises. As I am retired and my husband helped me a great deal, I was able to continue with their exercises. God Bless you dear Sherri and also give yourself some grace...you deserve it!

Oh Dear Dr. Tenpenny, thank you so much for sharing this post.

I am truly thrilled that you did check out CognitiveFX after I recommended it to you. Their wonderful therapy helped me so dearly after a TBI.

I am so blessed and deeply grateful that Jesus came to me after a near death accident. I was not happy when He told me that I had to return to my life.

What you described when you cried out to God is what I experienced during my time with Jesus. I felt a depth of love, peace and acceptance that nothing in this life compares. Psalm 91 is my favorite Psalm due to the fact that God has rescued me and performed miracles in my life so many times. Additionally, the Holy Spirit guides me and peaks to me daily.

God Bless you dear sister and many bubbles blowing your way fill with love and gratitude.

I’ve been trying to “find” you to thank you!!! It was reading your comment here that lead me to them. I can’t always read all the comments on both my SUBSTACKS but it was a godsend that I happened to read yours!

It was a great experience but so difficult. My brain felt like a Christmas snow globe when I came home. With all I have to do it’s been challenging to get up with the home program, but I made a table and use it as a template. I get at least part of it in every single day. Trying to give myself some grace about it!!

Thank you again!!! God bless.

The Holy Spirit is the Comforter Jesus sent, saying that He (Jesus) would come again...so they are one. The Holy Spirit is a servant. He never speaks of Himself. It's through Him that the Father gives us all we need. Interestingly, no one in the Bible prays to the Holy Spirit. Even Jesus said he would ask the Father to send another Comforter. He doesn't actually say Holy Spirit, please come to my disciples.

I drive a Holy Spirit truck. Last summer I purchased a fixed up 1969 Chevy C10, turquoise. I call her Tallulah. Everywhere I go, she sends smiles and people wave. My Holy Spirit parade. As we stop, I hear stories of past vehicle memories with sparkling eyes. It gives us time to connect and share these moments in time. My Holy Spirit truck. I see Holy Spirit as a golden energy of fluid flowing throughout one's brokenness, creating a fullness, helping them heal, filling in all of their cracks. Kintsugi, the Japanese art of using liquid gold to repair broken pottery and create a piece of art even more beautiful than originally created. That's what Holy Spirit can do for us. Envision Holy Spirit flowing through the body, the ailments, the sadness, the sorrows, the dis-ease, feel Holy Spirit liquid healing golden fluid filling in all of those cracks and making them whole. Shoot your liquid golden Jesus darts all over the world throughout the day. That's what I do as Tallulah and I are puttering down the road. :) God's blessings to Dr T and her beautiful team. God bless you all!

Until I implored upon the Holy Spirit to enter me and heal me, my walk with the Lord was incomplete.

It matters not wether the entity is 'masculine or feminine' it is the power which affects and influences believers which is most crucial.

IMHO what helped me to understand is:

-The Holy Spirit is God's arm, our spiritual guide/ helper/ communicator so to speak...

-Jesus is God in a human form (relatable, felt all our emotions, etc. ) makes him a spiritual guide, teacher and messenger ( amongst a multitude of positive traits)

Jesus, lived on earth here...knows what it is to be within this human form...is the ultimate Judge, since he experienced literally everything we humans have...

Some of the gifts and fruits of the Holy Spirit seem “feminine”, however when I remember that the Holy Spirit brought Jesus to Mary, I think “masculine”. And now you have researched the original languages, where it is both feminine & masculine, maybe we aren’t supposed to know? Just accept the wonderfulness of it all❣️😇🪶🪽☘️✝️💟

Bingo. God can be both simultaneously. It’s His creation. It doesn’t matter.

I had a similar experience with Holy Spirit. Powerful and healing! A friend once said that she stopped putting the word 'the' in front of Holy Spirit. She said it helped her think of Spirit as an equal part of Father, Son and Spirit. Food for thought.

I did that in my reply today for the first time. I think your friend might be right.

I close my prayers each night with “Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy, Lord have mercy, in unity with The Holy Spirit, all glory and honor is Yours, Almighty Father, now and forever, Amen.”

I also say it silently several times a day.

I don’t know exactly why that one gives me such comfort but it does. And, I still don’t understand Who or What The Holy Spirit is!
