"Don't be selfish; don't try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don't look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too." Philippians 2:3-4 NLT
Dear Sherri, thank you for all you are doing for everyone. Those paying attention see your heartfelt Love for the welfare of humanity. They admire your dedication and tenacity and are grateful to GOD for you, always including you in their prayers as the faithful who obey the LORD, doing what will please Him, abiding in His will.
"First things first"
This is a critical letter about the dangers of the prosperity doctrine ( Gospel). This teaching has caused so much damage because it distorts what Jesus meant when He said. . .
"You can ask for anything in my name, and I will do it, so that the Son can bring glory to the Father. Yes, ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it!" John 14:13-14 NLT
Yes, we can surely ask for anything, but if we are truly seeking to do GOD's will and please Him in all our ways, we will ask for that anything according to His will, why. . .
"Because this pleases the LORD."
For example, we think we need a new car, so we pray GOD, You said I could have anything, so I want a new car, and by the way, make it a red Ferrari. But I didn't know my old car would need a repair soon. I have taken it to the same mechanic the whole time I've owned it. I've been faithful to witness to him about his need to be saved, that the consequences of our sins are grave, but, yes, there's good news. Jesus provided a way for us to have eternal life and to be forgiven forever.
You see, if I got that new car, I wouldn't need to go to the repair shop anytime soon, and little did I know this dear mechanic would die from a heart attack in one year. Time was running out for him to choose Jesus, so when I prayed instead, I said, LORD, my car is old. It's been breaking down and seems to always need repairs, but I know You have a plan. I prayed not my will, but Yours be done instead.
So, did I receive that anything? Yes, I did.
By the way, I was given more opportunities to witness to the mechanic because my old car kept needing repairs. Guess what? In the end, he did believe, he did receive Jesus as his Savior, was forgiven, and now I'll see him someday in heaven, praising GOD with all His Holy angels.
"and we will receive from Him whatever we ask, because we keep His commandments and do what is pleasing in His sight." 1 John 3:22 BSB
"Guard your heart and mind"
"Guard your heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life." Proverbs 4:23 NLT
Sherri and all of us, when the LORD is using us according to His will for the good of others, our adversaries will most definitely try to disrupt, distract, undo, and impede our efforts. So, we must be constantly aware of our enemy's schemes. Thus, we must actively guard our hearts and minds against unwanted intrusions that will restrain progress.
"Don't worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God's peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 NLT
I know I am slow in getting to your Walking With God but I was busy with a selfish heart. I am always amazed at the timeliness of your messages. Asking is sometimes hard, when our heart is not in the right place. To turn it around, this is when we should be seeking and calling God into our lives. I slip and wander aimlessly, not sure what I truly am seeking. I as so many am searching for love and acceptance. God is the answer and yes he is always there and listening. Daily life can be very hard and we may not see the answers in front of us. But I will keep knocking and then listen for the door to open. But I first must ask, with a sincere heart. Thank You Dr T for always opening my eyes so I may see.
So...I can't ask him for job then...because that is worldly! I have to continue living with no way to pay my bills then? I hate this life, it is SO hard. Looking around every one I know has jobs, their health and can pay their bills in full...but your opinion is saying its worldly to ask for income/job.
You missed the message, honey. Read article again…slowly. Write the scripture down that says if you seek God first, all things will be added. ALL things…a job, better circumstances, health. We only have to be as a child. Think about it: not hard to to a kid 😃. Just when we think we have the WORST life; there are those who have no bills to pay( they have no home or car to worry paying). Dr. T, thank you today, keep on knocking so the doors will open.
This is a wonderful reminder that God is not an Ogre, and He loves for us. Thank you!
God is so great. When I started reading this substack, it was 4:16. His word is never null or void. Thank you, Dr. T.
