Yes you are right. Matthew 24 prophecies that would happen.

“For nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be food shortages and earthquakes in one place after another. 8 All these things are a beginning of pangs of distress. 9 “Then people will hand you over to tribulation and will kill you, and you will be hated by all the nations on account of my name. 10 Then, too, many will be stumbled and will betray one another and will hate one another. 11 Many false prophets will arise and mislead many; 12 and because of the increasing of lawlessness, the love of the greater number will grow cold. 13 But the one who has endured to the end will be saved. 14 And this good news of the Kingdom will be preached in all the inhabited earth for a witness to all the nations, and then the end will come. 15 “Therefore, when you catch sight of the disgusting thing that causes desolation, as spoken about by Daniel the prophet, standing in a holy place (let the reader use discernment), 16 then let those in Ju·deʹa begin fleeing to the mountains. 17 Let the man on the housetop not come down to take the goods out of his house, 18 and let the man in the field not return to pick up his outer garment. 19 Woe to the pregnant women and those nursing a baby in those days! 20 Keep praying that your flight may not occur in wintertime nor on the Sabbath day; 21 for then there will be great tribulation such as has not occurred since the world’s beginning until now, no, nor will occur again. 22 In fact, unless those days were cut short, no flesh would be saved; but on account of the chosen ones those days will be cut short. 23 “Then if anyone says to you, ‘Look! Here is the Christ,’ or, ‘There!’ do not believe it. 24 For false Christs and false prophets will arise and will perform great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones. 25 Look! I have forewarned you. 26 Therefore, if people say to you, ‘Look! He is in the wilderness,’ do not go out; ‘Look! He is in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it. 27 For just as the lightning comes out of the east and shines over to the west, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 28 Wherever the carcass is, there the eagles will be gathered together. 29 “Immediately after the tribulation of those days, the sun will be darkened, and the moon will not give its light, and the stars will fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens will be shaken. 30 Then the sign of the Son of man will appear in heaven, and all the tribes of the earth will beat themselves in grief, and they will see the Son of man coming on the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. 31 And he will send out his angels with a great trumpet sound, and they will gather his chosen ones together from the four winds, from one extremity of the heavens to their other extremity.

This is a tough one but maybe it answered a question for me with which I've been struggling. I know I had 100% faith, praying to God to heal my daughter when she very unexpectedly coded in the ICU last December. So I guess her continuing to live past age 24 was not His Will. I waffle between His Will and earthly sin which caused the circumstances to transpire and He will make good arise from it, but I know a miracle could have occurred if He'd chosen it. I love God more than ever but this is difficult to understand.

Her days on earth were known before she was born. His eyes saw her when she was formless; all her days were written in His book and planned before a single one of them began. (Psalm 139:16)

It's always difficult when our ways are not God's ways. That's why we have to pray "Thy will be done." Some things we don't understand with our human minds and hearts. The heartbreak you write about is palpable. Thank you for sharing your loss and we can pray with you/for you, along the way to acceptance.

When Kevin, my husband, died it took me nearly 3 years to decide that if I wasn't going to die too, then I needed to get back to the business of living. It was hard every day - and I was not dedicated to Christ through that period in the way that I am now. I'm sure it would have been a different path if I had had Jesus to lean on.

The pain of the physical and emotional loss really does grow easier over time, even though I would have never believed it when he first passed. It's been nearly 10 years now; missing him and his essence never really goes away. It's like your shadow, it's always part of you but not always worth noticing. I find, even today, focusing on and being grateful for what I have, instead of missing so intensely what I have lost, has allowed me to move forward. God bless.

Thank you for your input, but that's precisely why I waffle. I'm so sorry that you lost your husband what also felt like before his time in our eyes. But how does this then portend to the faith to move mountains and His Will? I feel He only knew the days because He sees past, present, and future, but not exactly His Will. I'm sorry, I know ultimately His Will was and is done though.

Thank you very much for your respectful comments. As volunteers JWs remember Jesus said anyone who does and says what he said will be hated just as he was so it is to be expected. If any incident gets as bad as you describe which is very rarely, the police can be informed of religious hatred and assault or abuse. That would be the last resort. Yes you are right, if there is a notice on individual doors asking for no unwelcome visitors, this is respected. It is freedom of choice and freedom of speech.

If you enjoy the literature you can get some from carts situated in every Town Centres but those who you welcome in to your home for a chat will decide if it is time wasting and stop coming, but they must see something good in you.
